BLACKWATER just did San Miguel a solid for the latter's coming PBA Governors’ Cup campaign.
The Bossing released their rights to high-scoring import George King, paving the way for the former NBA player to become the Beermen’s reinforcement in the final conference of Season 50.
Blackwater team governor Siliman Sy confirmed the release of the 6-foot-6 King, a second round pick of the Phoenix Suns in the 2018 NBA Draft.
“We already released his rights, and then San Miguel engaged him,” Sy said.
SMB team manager Gee Abanilla, for their part, said they have already talked to the highly-touted import, who once burned the hoops for 64 points during his stint with the Bossing.
“We’re working on him right now,” was Abanilla’s curt reply.
King shows 'em who's boss
King immediately made waves when he suited up for Blackwater as a replacement for Ricky Ledo during the Season 49 Govs’ Cup.

He and then-rookie Sedrick Barefield packed an explosive 1-2 punch for the Bossing, including his 64-point outburst in a 139-118 domination of Rain or Shine.
His entry midway through the conference turned Blackwater's campaign around, as the team went 5-2 with him as import to end eliminations at 5-5.
Unfortunately, NLEX bumped off the Bossing for the fourth and last quarterfinals berth in their group despite finishing with a similar record, owing to the 104-87 loss Blackwater suffered to the Road Warriors when Ledo was still its import.
Following that initial success, the Bossing opted to bring him back for another tour of duty in the Commissoner’s Cup which features no height limit for reinforcements.
Alas, King and Blackwater imploded and failed to sniff the playoffs no thanks to a 3-9 record.
