KIEFER Ravena is considering training abroad in order to prepare himself for the PBA next year.

With the two-time UAAP MVP opting not to play in the PBA D-League, Ravena faces a long break from top-level competition at the end of his collegiate career with Ateneo  the PBA draft set to take place sometime in August.

To make good use of the break, the former Ateneo King Eagle said he plans to train abroad to work on the weaknesses in his game and get himself ready for the pro game.

“I want to try it out and train abroad to get myself physically and mentally ready for the draft,” Ravena said.

Ravena said one of the possible training sites for him is in Las Vegas, particularly the Joe Abunassar Impact Training Center which he has attended during Ateneo’s summer training for the UAAP.

Ravena said his stint in Gilas Pilipinas practices has also opened his eyes to the fact that his game still needs a lot of work to be at par with PBA stars.

“I have a gauge of where I am right now and compared to the pro people, I’m really far from that. The game is different already and I have lots of things to adjust and work on my weaknesses in college. Kailangan ko iimprove ‘yun,” said Ravena.

The six-foot guard is projected to be among the top picks in the next PBA draft, but Ravena said his focus is not only making an immediate impact but also on longevity.

“It’s not just about making an impact now. It’s about lengthening your career and how long you are going to stay. Sa dami ng magagaling na players every year, laging may competition. ‘Yun siguro ‘yung one thing na kailangan kong ayusin,” said Ravena.
