TAIPEI - The deeper and deeper he gets in his stint with Gilas Pilipinas, the closer and closer Kiefer Ravena gets to making the decision to follow in his dad's footsteps and make the jump to the PBA.

On Friday, the former UAAP MVP out of Ateneo and many-time national player hinted that joining the next PBA rookie draft may be a mere formality.

“As far as I’m concerned, the only thing left to be done is pass my application form for the (PBA) draft,” Ravena said on the eve of Gilas' debut in the William Jones Cup.

“There are just some people who would need to know of my decision,” the eldest son of former PBA Rookie of the Year Bong Ravena added.

While fans await the formal announcement, Ravena puts his focus on a Gilas campaign which he hopes would end with an unprecedented fourth successive gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games.

After making his SEA Games debut at 17, the six-foot guard is aiming for a fourth gold medal that would put him one up over Romel Adducul who won three in a row.

Ravena joked he had more than enough to beat his dad, who won his only SEA Games medal in 1991.

"Nakaisa lang s'ya eh," he laughed.
