KIA Motors on the lookout for a Korean sharpshooter to complement PJ Ramos

    Mar 23, 2015

REGARDLESS of KIA Motors' performance in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, the Carnival intend to pair returning import Peter John Ramos with a Korean shooter come the season-ending Governors Cup.

KIA team manager Eric Pineda said the first-year PBA franchise under playing coach Manny Pacquiao is determined to end the season with a bang, which is why they have been shopping around for an Asian reinforcement.

“Naghahanap na kami, siguro mga two weeks na din. And we’re trying to see if we can work something out with a Korean with the help of KIA’s mother company,” Pineda told on Monday.

KIA is a Korean car brand.

Asian reinforcements are a brain child of PBA chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio, giving alll 12 PBA teams the option to tap a “second import” to spice up the third conference.

A Korean sharpshooter will be a perfect fit for KIA, which only needs to surround the 7-3 Ramos with gunners to win more games than the Carnival did in the ongoing Commissioner's Cup.

Pineda said they have a short list for a possible recruit, but declined to divulge the name, saying KIA management needs to discuss the matter first with their contact in South Korea.

But what’s certain, he said, is they intend to maximize the 6-foot-3 height limit for Asian reinforcements.

KIA’s playoff chances dimmed on Sunday after a 119-99 defeat at the hands of Rain or Shine left the expansion team at 4-7 (win-loss) at the end of its elimination-round stint.
