Kevin Alas move to Talk 'N Text hits a snag as Rain or Shine team owners waver

KEVIN Alas' move to Talk 'N Text has suddenly hit a snag as Rain or Shine owners are having second thoughts on sending the former Gilas cadet to a revamping Texters side. reported on Tuesday that Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao has agreed to send the team's No. 2 pick overall in the last draft to Talk 'N Text in a three-team deal that would have Nino Canaleta going to NLEX and the Elasto Painters getting the Warriors' first-round pick in 2015.

However, Rain or Shine sources said its owners have wavered on a trade that would make the rebuilding Texters a lot deeper - and definitely younger - following the acquisition of rookie Matt Rosser and Jay Washington.

“Ayaw ng Rain or Shine na maging conduit eh. Ang nangyayari ayaw pang pakawalan si Alas ng Elasto Painters,” said the source. “Ang problema, hindi makuha ng diretso ng Talk 'N Text si Alas, kasi yung kapalitan eh yung pick ng NLEX.”

Asked to explain, the source added: "Kung three-team trade na hindi sister teams and involved, okay ang Rain or Shine. But in this case, sister teams ang involved so hindi sila komportable."

The source said Rain or Shine is now demanding more that what it was supposed to get under the original transaction, seeking not only NLEX’s 2015 first-round pick but also a 2016 second-round pick which the Warriors got from Blackwater Elite in a previous deal.

Another source said Rain or Shine is thinking of asking for a clause that would prevent NLEX from trading Alas for a certain period of time after the deal.

“Nararamdaman kasi ng Rain or Shine na lalakas masyado ang Talk 'N Text at babata pag nakuha agad si Alas, nakuha na nila yung Matt Rosser di ba” he said.

“Ayaw ng Rain or Shine ng warm blood. Gusto nila pick. At yung gusto nila… galing NLEX ('yung pick),” said the source.
