GILAS cadet guard Kevin Alas is giving himself until Wednesday to make a decision on whether to join the PBA Annual Rookie Draft or not.

The former Letran star combo guard is currently discussing his future plans with his family, led by his father, Alaska assistant coach Louie Alas.

“Pag-u-usapan pa ulit namin ng family ko `yung tungkol sa draft,” Alas told Spin.ph on Monday.

Initially, the six-foot guard was already advised by his father to join the draft set on August 24 at the Robinsons Place in Manila, saying he is ready to take his act to the pros.

“Advice sa akin ng dad ko is mag-join na sa PBA draft kasi he feels na ripe na ako,” explained the younger Alas, who steered the NLEX Road Warriors to the PBA D-League Foundation Cup title en route to being named the tournament’s MVP.

“Pero sabi niya, at the end of the day, it’s still me who will decide so ayoko naman madaliin 'yung decision ko kaya I still have until Wednesday to decide,” he added.

Alas said part of his decision has something to do with his desire to still play for the national team, something he has done in the past after being named to the Gilas cadet pool two years ago.

As part of the Sinag Pilipinas team, Alas won a gold medal in last year’s Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

“Wine-weigh ko lang lahat ng options ko, kasi malaking bagay for me ang nakakapaglaro for the national team,” he said.

Alas has also suited up for the Gilas team that finished sixth in a club tournament in Duba in 2013 before helping the national squad rule the Super Keung Sheung Cup in Hong Kong.

His NLEX teammate Jake Pascual already filed his rookie application on Monday afternoon, while Garvo Lanete remains mum about his plans of turning pro.
