ANTIPOLO – Kevin Alas sat out NLEX’s 108-94 win over Phoenix on Sunday night in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup due to an ankle injury.
The veteran guard said he hurt his ankle in the second half of the Road Warriors’ game against TNT four days ago and has since skipped the team’s last two practices.

The ankle remains swollen, according to Alas.
“Second quarter nung TNT game. Pero natapos ko pa 'yung laro,” said the playmaker out of Letran, who played through the pain and led all local scorers with 16 points in the 94-87 loss.
“Nag-off kami ng Thursday, then Friday and Saturday pinag-rest, rehab, and recovery ako.”
Alas was in street clothes and watched the game against Phoenix from the sidelines of the Ynares Center as the Road Warriors finally ended their five-game skid to improve at 4-6 overall.
The son of champion coach Louie Alas said he remains 50-50 in NLEX’s all-important game against Rain or Shine on Saturday as the team tries to stay alive for a quarterfinals berth.
“Papakiramdaman pa,” said Alas, who just returned to active duty this conference after recovering from a third ACL injury.
“Medyo nag-iingat pa rin kasi kakabalik lang sa injury.”

But the true Road Warrior that he is, Alas hopes to be physically ready for the final two games of the team.
“Susubukan naman na 'pag nag-resume kami ng practice,” Alas added. “So Lord willing, pag resume namin, sana okay na ako.”
