KEVIN Alas is glad to earn a new deal and a chance to work longer with coach Yeng Guiao.
Alas’ stellar plays with NLEX in the PBA Governors Cup netted him a well-deserved contract extension.
The combo guard out of Letran was re-signed by the Road Warriors to a three-year on a rainy Monday night. Terms of the deal however, were not made available.
Alas, who's being managed by Virtual Playground, signed the new contract in the presence of NLEX coach and basketball manager operations Yeng Guiao, team executive Ronald Dulatre, and agent Charlie Dy.
"I'm so happy because they're trusting me by giving me a new three-year contract," said Alas to spin.ph shortly after the Road Warriors had their practice at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on a stormy Tuesday morning.
"It just feels so good that you're playing in a team that trusts you."
Alas, son of Alaska lead deputy Louie Alas, is also grateful at having the chance to work with Guiao at NLEX.
The veteran coach was the one who selected Kevin as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 draft while still with Rain or Shine.
But he didn't get to play for Guiao after the Elasto Painters traded him to TnT Katropa before the season started.
Eventually, their paths crossed again at NLEX, when Guiao was named head coach of the franchise prior to this season.
"Coach Yeng was the one who drafted me. So grateful ako sa kanya for the chance and opportunity na ibinibigay niya sa akin," said Alas.
