KELLY Nabong is owning up to a "mistake" that led to Meralco suspending him indefinitely and eventually relegating him to the unrestricted free agent list late last season.

Nabong got into a verbal altercation with Meralco assistant coach Jimmy Alapag in a PBA Governors Cup semifinal game, leading to a suspension for an "action detrimental to the team."

While hoping that Meralco management has already forgiven him, Nabong said he has has put the issue behind as he starts afresh after being picked up as a free agent by GlobalPort.

"It's okay, it's okay. Everything happens for a reason. I don't keep any grudges. It's all my fault. I lost my temper a little bit, but that's my fault," he said after leading his new team to a thrilling 83-80 win over Magnolia in a preseason match on Thursday.

"I'm trying to learn from my mistake, which I did, and I'm trying to move on from it," he added. "I'm in a great position right now with GlobalPort, they got a great management, great head coach, we got a lot of good guys on the team, lot of rookies. It's gonna be an exciting season."
