KELLY Nabong set the record straight and insisted that he harbors no ill will toward former teammate and now San Miguel assistant coach Jimmy Alapag.

"To be honest, it's all water under the bridge as soon as it happened," he said on Thursday as the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas head coach was introduced as the latest addition to coach Leo Austria's coaching staff.

Nabong and Alapag, who was serving as a team consultant for Meralco then, had an infamous verbal altercation during the Bolts' semifinals series against Star (now Magnolia) in the 2017 Governors' Cup.

The former would later on be slapped with an indefinite suspension for his "actions detrimental to the team," and eventually found his way out of the squad.

Since then, Nabong has picked up the pieces from that controversy to become a key contributor in his stops with GlobalPort (now NorthPort) and San Miguel.

And the enigmatic center made it clear that he has already gotten past that brush.

"I never started a new leaf. It's just a new beginning. I'm still the same person, still works hard and does the dirty work. He's still my cap from Meralco," he said.

"The reason why people think there's still an issue is because people blow things out of proportion and they say so when they don't know exactly what happened. It's all water under the bridge as soon as the game was over.

"It was two teammates having a feud and it happens everywhere. We got over it. We're both hardworking guys, both want to win, and now we're in a position to do that here in San Miguel."

With Alapag as well as former GlobalPort teammate Terrence Romeo now with the Beermen, Nabong didn't hide his excitement as he looked forward on what this new-look San Miguel can accomplish starting this 2019 Philippine Cup.

"I love it. It will be exciting this year. With Terrence and Jimmy on board, it will be exciting," he said.
