THE trade vastly improved Mahindra gunner Karl Dehesa to GlobalPort finally moved forward after Blackwater got into the mix to seal the deal that was put on hold just a week ago.

Under the original deal, Dehesa and rookie Mike DiGregorio were supposed to go to GlobalPort in exchange for the trio of Jonathan Uyloan, Paolo Taha and rookie RoiSumang.

But Mahindra backed out of the trade at the last minute even though the papers had already been signed and were in fact cleared by PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa.

According to sources, Mahindra top management pulled the plug on the deal because it didn’t want to let go of DiGregorio.

However, the mothballed trade finally gained ground on Friday when Mahindra agreed to a revised deal, sending Dehesa to GlobalPort in exchange for the rookie pair of Roi Sumang and Paolo Taha.

Sumang was later traded by Mahindra to Blackwater in exchange for another rookie in Keith Agovida.

As a result, Uyloan wil still remain with the Batang Pier while DiGrigorio will stay with Mahindra.

Taha has already been assured of a two-year contract by the Enforcers, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations.
