KAI Sotto isn't ready to make any commitment with Gilas Pilipinas, especially after back pain forced him to leave the Orlando Magic's game against the Boston Celtics after the first half in the NBA Summer League on Sunday.
Gilas coach Chot Reyes said based on talks with Sotto's camp, he expects the 7-3 center to report for practice with the national team on Tuesday.
However, Sotto was non-committal when asked about the matter at the end of the Magic's 94-77 loss to the Celtics that concluded the Orlando franchise's 0-5 (win-loss) campaign at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
"Mahirap sabihin kasi 'yun nga, simula last year tuloy-tuloy na. wala pa talaga akong break para alagaan ang katawan ko," said Sotto, who left the game with four minutes left in the first half and never returned.
The back pain which Sotto has been dealing with since his stint with the Hiroshima Dragoflies in Japan further complicates matters.
"Pag-iisipan ko pa," said on his availability for Gilas. "Alagaan ko likod ko ngayon, mag-rehab ako as soon as I get back, so we'll see."
