JAY Washington is hoping against hope he’ll still be able to comeback at the tail end of the PBA Governors Cup despite being ruled out by Rain or Shine as out for the rest of the season.

The veteran big man said a second opinion on his hamstring tear revealed said the injury can be treated through rest and strengthening.

“Gonna start strengthening in a week. No surgery needed,” said the 35-year-old Washington in a text message to SPIN.ph

“I just got a second opinion and I could possibly be back by playoffs.”

Coach Caloy Garcia and even co-team owner Raymund Yu earlier declared Washington as already out for the rest of the season owing to the hamstring tear that he has and at the same time, for a pain he’s been feeling on his knee.

Washington has only played for a single game in the season-ending conference during the Elasto Painters’ 98-96 win over the Globalport Batang Pier in their game debut.

He has since sat out the team’s next five games including Sunday night’s big 92-88 conquest of previously unbeaten Star Hotshots.

The victory was the third straight for Rain or Shine, which raised its record to 4-2 overall as it gets closer to clinching a berth in the quarterfinals.

Hopefully, JWash would be well enough again by that time to rejoin the Elasto Painters.
