JVee Casio taking more aggressive role on offense and Aces reaping the benefits

    Sep 10, 2017

JVee Casio insisted there has hardly been a change in the way Alaska has played as far as the Xs and Os are concerned in its last three games compared to their first six games in the PBA Governors’ Cup where they wound up empty handed.

The Aces star playmaker stressed it’s simply their desire to get out of slump that has been the difference in their three-game win streak.

“We just really want to win after all those games,” Casio said after Alaska downed winless Kia. “Gusto lang namin manalo.”

“Buti na lang nag-result ng mga panalo, pero alam namin hindi pa tapos,” he added.

Personally, though, Casio admitted he is making an effort to take over after deferring to his teammates early in the conference.

After scoring in double figures just once in their first six games, including one scoreless output, Casio registered 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, highlighted by four triples, on top of seven assists and one board in 28 minutes against the Picanto.

“Maging aggressive lang a little bit more, both on offense and defense, then trying to really control the game sa team namin, and just do what I can,” Casio said of his individual showing.

Despite their late surge, Casio is reminding his teammates not to get ahead of themselves in their bid for a playoff spot.

“We have to take it one game at a time,” Casio said. “Still, wala pa kami doon, kaya yung next game yung focus namin.”
