JVEE Casio is celebrating his firstborn child while in the middle of Alaska’s playoff run in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Casio recently became a father, his wife Jackie giving birth to a healthy baby girl Jaica on November 3.
“Siyempre masaya dahil first born,” Casio said. “Really, masaya lang talaga ako.”
The happy moment forced Casio to miss practice for Alaska in the Aces’ build-up for the PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs. Despite missing practice, Casio still played for Alaska several days later in the Aces’ quarterfinal match.
Alaska coach Alex Compton said the team excused Casio as he completely understands the father needs to be there for the birth of the child.
“He and his wife had their first child, so he missed three practices. You know how it is when you have a new born baby, puyat na puyat ka. Hindi ka natutulog lalo na kapag first born mo,” Casio said.
As he celebrates a new chapter of his life, Casio said he is still making sure that he will be able to contribute for Alaska in their title chase.
“It comes with the job. Lahat ng tao, dinadaanan din ‘yan. You really have to play through it and really just be there for the team. Of course, coach and management have been very accommodating. We are in the playoffs. Basta focus lang,” Casio said.
