HEALTH has become a concern for Barangay Ginebra in its preparation for Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals.

Head coach Tim Cone revealed that Justin Brownlee had a case of asthma during practice that required him to be taken to the hospital for treatment on Monday, causing their import to miss the traditional pre-finals press conference at the Kamay Kainan at the last minute.

If there is any relief for Ginebra is that Game 1 won’t be played until Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, still enough time for Brownlee to recover from the asthma.

“He had an asthma attack after practice and they had to rush him to the hospital. I’m assuming he will be better the next day or two. We will see. We have five days left,” said Cone, who at the time of the interview has no information yet on whether Brownlee has been released from the hospital or not.

Brownlee’s condition is on top of Troy Rosario still dealing with the sprained ankle in his right foot he sustained last Friday in Game 5 of the semifinals against NorthPort.

“Troy is recovering from his sprained ankle and Justin was not here because he is in the hospital with an asthma attack. Hopefully, we get those two guys back. It’s obviously very key,” said Cone.

Cone said Ginebra is still taking a cautious approach on Rosario, who is undergoing rehab on his right foot.

“He is not practicing yet. He is still undergoing rehab. We hope he can join us in the few days and be ready for Game 1,” said Cone.

Brownlee will be up against Rondae Hollis-Jefferson for the third time in the finals, with Barangay Ginebra looking to change their fortunes as it has not won over TNT over their past battles.
