GINEBRA made its size count in a 105-92 win over Phoenix in the PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday night.

That's exactly how Justin Brownlee wants it.

Bannered by seven-foot Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar, the Gin Kings collared 76 rebounds, including 34 offensive boards that led to 34 second-chance points, on the way to their fifth straight win.

    Phoenix only had 47 rebounds.

Such advantage will play a key role in Ginebra's title-retention bid in the season-ending conference, said import Justin Brownlee.

"With our size and the other teams being smaller, we definitely got to utilize our size especially on offense and defense," said Brownlee.

"I think the key factor is how well we could play defense with our size. If we can defend like we have been, I think we could definitely have a great shot at repeating this year."

By tying Meralco atop the heap with a 5-1 card, Brownlee is optimistic that goal is within reach.

"Just try to come with the same attitude and focus. It starts with our defense and then I think our offense will just come with it," he said.

"I don't think there's anything that we can change up. We just gotta be even more focused and play with more intensity, treat every game like a playoff game."

Brownlee, however, can only hope Ginebra isn't peaking too early.

"I think we got some great momentum right now," he said. "Hopefully, if we're not peaking yet, we could get to that level because I think we still got a lot to grow even now that we're playing very well."
