Two nights after scoring 39 points, Justin Brownlee was held to 18 by SMB. Jaime Campos

JUSTIN Brownlee credited San Miguel's defense for his sub-par offensive showing for Ginebra in its 95-92 Game Two loss in the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals on Wednesday night.

Coming off a Game One win where he put up a conference-high 39 points on 17-of-27 shooting, the Gin Kings import was held to a conference-low 18 points this time, although he made half of his 16 shots.

“I just give a lot of credit to San Miguel, they had a great defensive plan for me so they succeeded,” Brownlee admitted. “You can’t play great every game so you just live and learn from it, learn from our mistakes and try to bounce back hard.”

“They just had a great defensive plan for us,” added the prolific reinforcement, who did register 13 rebounds, six assists, and one steal in almost 43 minutes on the court.

As a unit, the Beermen held the Gin Kings to 44-percent shooting and forced them to commit 15 turnovers that turned into 17 turnover points.

“I think they were switching defenses, they went zone, I think it kinda slowed us down a little bit,” Borwnlee said. “I think we just need to get in the practice tomorrow and figure it out on how to attack it.”

“We gotta come out, just try to get a better start,” he added. “They are a veteran team, they've won a lot of championships, they know how to start a game, I think we need be more focused and try to figure out what we’re doing wrong. We gonna be ready for Game Three.”
