SAN Miguel is holding its breath after June Mar Fajardo injured his right calf in a Game One loss to Barangay Ginebra in the PBA 49th Season Philippine Cup semifinals at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Fajardo said he is scheduled for an ultrasound on Thursday to determine the extent of the injury.
“’Yung calf ko, may ultrasound ako bukas (Thursday),” said Fajardo after the Beermen blew an 18-point lead in a 71-73 loss to Ginebra on Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Fajardo is hoping that his calf injury is a minor one so that he could play on Friday in Game 2 of the best-of-seven series at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
“Sana wala pero may ultrasound ako bukas. Bukas malalaman,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo had a rough outing offensively in Game One, scoring nine points on 3-of-10 shooting without a single trip to the foul line. The eight-time MVP, however, grabbed 19 rebounds.

But Fajardo was visibly in pain at the 8:31-mark of the fourth quarter, and sat for several minutes. He later returned during the final stretch, and had a potential marginal lay-up blocked by Japeth Aguilar.
Based on online resources, calf injuries could take several weeks to months to heal, depending on the severity. Fajardo, however, is optimistic that the injury won’t be serious.
“Medyo masakit dito,” said Fajardo, pointing to his calf when interviewed by a handful of reporters. “Pero positive ako na hindi seryoso.”
