JUNE Mar Fajardo said San Miguel will practice on Wednesday with hope that the Beermen will still have a game to play after the end of the PBA 49th Season Commissioner’s Cup.
The Beermen already finished their elimination round campaign with a 5-7 win-loss record, but they still have an outside chance of making it to the quarterfinals, depending on what happens in the final two playdates of the tournament.

Their fortunes, obviously, is out of their hands with NLEX and Magnolia having the upper hand in the race for the eighth and final quarterfinal slot.

Everything must now fall into place for San Miguel in the coming days as an NLEX loss to Eastern on Wednesday and a Magnolia defeat over Meralco on Friday. That will arrange a playoff for No. 8 between San Miguel and NLEX.
“Tagilid kami ngayon. Pero may chance pa naman kami. Hopeful pa rin kami,” said Fajardo in an interview with reporters during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Annual Awards last Monday at the Manila Hotel.
“Sa Wednesday,” said Fajardo, when asked if San Miguel will still practice as it waits their fate.
San Miguel ended the elimination round on a losing note then it bowed to TNT, 115-97, on Sunday, putting the Beermen in danger of snapping a streak of 22 conferences where they entered the quarterfinals.

“Siyempre malungkot ‘yung team pero high hopes pa rin kami,” said Fajardo on Monday.
Amidst the team’s struggles, Fajardo still had something to celebrate on Monday when he was awarded with Mr. Basketball (pro) in the PSA Awards.
“Siyempre, isang karangalan na mapabilang dito. Thankful ako sa PSA,” said Fajardo. “Nakakataba ng puso. Thankful ako.”
