BOCAUE -- Marites Fajardo honestly felt scared that her son, June Mar, wouldn't get his date with destiny.
"Oo naman kasi magaling talaga si (Stanley) Pringle at hindi kasi rin siya masyadong nakalaro noong huli," the nervous mother shared to SPIN.ph on Sunday.
But greatness just can't be denied, and thus, the soft-spoken center took home his fifth PBA Most Valuable Player award during the 43rd season Leo Awards at Philippine Arena here.
Fajardo took the chance and brought both his father, Bonifacio, and mother, Marites, to the stage as they shared the spotlight as one happy family.
"Sila ang dahilan kaya lumaki ako ng maayos at lumaki ako ng ganito," he quipped, illiciting laughs from the adoring crowd.
"Sila ang pinaka-insiprasyon ko. Sa hirap ng pinagdaaanan nila, ang pinaka-the best na magagawa ko is mapasaya sila at ibigay ang kung anong pwede kong maibigay sa kanila. Nagsisikap ako para sa kanila."
It was a proud moment for the Fajardo household, but what made the achievement all the more special is seeing how their son hasn't changed one bit despite all the accolades he has already accomplished.
"Kahit ngayon na marami na siyang achievements sa buhay, siya pa rin ang June Mar noon. Hindi siya nagbabago," said Marites.
Bonifacio added: "Nagpapasalamat ako sa panginoon na binigyan ako ng isang mabait na anak tulad ni June Mar."
