WHILE he had his touches, Arwind Santos believes June Mar Fajardo didn’t have that much in San Miguel Beer’s 88-82 loss in Game One of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Wednesday night.
The 2013 league MVP had 14 attempts and converted just five of them for a total of 12 points, but his MVP successor only had nine tries and made just four, although he still finished with 14 markers.
Still it was Fajardo’s lowest scoring output since the Beermen’s last game of the elimination round when the star slotman also scored 14 in a rout of Blackwater.
And Santos stressed his post partner should get more touches and attempts.
“Sa nakita ko, hindi masyado dumadating ang bola kay June Mar, hindi siya masyado napapasahan,” Santos said.
He credited Alaska’s defense for also making it hard for the Beermen to feed the ball to Fajardo.
“Maganda rin yung depensa nila,” Santos said. “Yung pressure nila, tsaka yung mga ibang pasa na hindi naman napasa ng maayos.”
“Kailangan mag-hanap ng mas magandang anggulo.”
Good thing, the best-of-seven series has just begun.
“Ang kinagandahan nito, series ‘to eh, so hindi mo masasabi na ganun pa rin ang tatakbuhin nila sa Game Two.”
