'LAGNAT laki' is not a problem for a big boy like June Mar Fajardo.
The 6-10 Fajardo put together a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in San Miguel's 124-113 victory over Phoenix in the PBA Governors' Cup despite nursing a slight fever which he was quick to shake off.
"Lagnat laki lang, baka lalaki pa ako," said Fajardo with a laugh.
Turning serious, the two-time MVP added, "Kahapon lang ako bumalik sa practice. Fatigue yata. Sobrang nanghihina ako so ayun, pinahinga muna ako nila coach."
Despite Fajardo's stellar performance, San Miguel coach Leo Austria believes his prized slotman is still a long way away from top shape after a draining stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
"Si June Mar until now is not 100 percent," Austria said. "Kailagnan mag-replenish uli siya. Very soft pa siya kanina. Hindi pa siya 'yung usual June Mar."
Aside from Fajardo, other key players like Arwind Santos, Yancy de Ocampo, Chris Lutz, and Gabby Espinas are still nursing injuries.
That's why Austria heaved a big sigh of relief after the Beermen's conquest of the Fuel Masters.
"This game is really important for us because we want to have a good start," said Austria.
