A MEMBER of the selection committee that picked the next 10 Greatest PBA Players said it would take a long time for anyone to match June Mar Fajardo's accompishments.
“Wala na sigurong lalagpas pa sa ginawa. Mahihirapan,” said PBA legend Atoy Co. “It will take many, many years para siguro may lumabas na isang June Mar Fajardo na nagkaroon ng eight MVPs sa PBA. Hindi pa pinapanganak siguro.”
Fajardo earned his place in the PBA 50 Greatest Players list after the selection committee applied the previous ruling that all season MVPs are seeded.

But even without that qualification, Co said he would insist on including Fajardo.
“In 13 years, he got eight MVPs. ‘Yung pagpili ng MVP, customary na kasi. Pero kahit na hindi customary, ipagpipilitan kong ipasok si June Mar,” said Co.
When told about what Co said, Fajardo said on the contrary, he believes his record of eight PBA MVPs and counting will eventually be broken.
“Nakakataba ng puso pero tingin ko, may magbe-break din. ‘Yung record, mabe-break at mabe-break talaga ‘yan. Ang tanong kung kailan."
Fajardo said he didn’t expect to make it to the greatest list even with his achievements since he remains an active player.
“Masaya ako na napabilang ako sa 50 greatest. Isang karangalan na mapabilang doon at ma-recognize,” said Fajardo.
“Sa ngayon, maaga pa eh, naglalaro pa ako eh. Pero thankful ako sa pumili sa akin,” said Fajardo.
The San Miguel big man said making it to the 50 Greatest is a result of his desire to win championships with the Beermen. The mindset remains the same as he turns his attention to helping the Beermen’s bid to return to the playoffs after missing out during the Commissioner’s Cup.
“Ako naman, ginagawa ko lang best ko kung ano ‘yung maitutulong ko sa team. Ang goal namin ngayon makabalik uli sa finals. Parang ilang conferences na rin namin hindi nakukuha,” said Fajardo.
