JUNE Mar Fajardo is set to make his Governors’ Cup debut on Saturday when San Miguel battles Rain or Shine at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
The match between the Beermen and the Elastopainters is set at 6:45 p.m.
San Miguel coach Leo Austria plans to field Fajardo in the game but is expected to be on minutes restriction after recovering from stress fracture in his right shin.
“We will give him some time to play but it’s managed minutes,” said Austria.
The Beermen are on a three-game winning streak — their recent win a 114-107 decision over NorthPort last Wednesday — and are in sixth place with a 5-4 win-loss record. San Miguel still has an outside chance of making it to the top four spots in the quarterfinals.
The Beermen are facing a struggling Rain or Shine (2-7) squad which has lost three straight outings.
In the first game, Blackwater looks to regain its winning ways when the Elite clash with Columbian Dyip at 4:30 p.m.
After a hot start, the Elite have lost two straight games to slide to fifth place with a 6-3 win-loss record. Blackwater lost to Alaska, 116-109, last Sunday.
The Elite hope to get a boost ahead of a tough match against Phoenix (7-3), which is in a tie for third place with Alaska in the team standings.
