JUNE Mar Fajardo welcomed the presence of San Miguel import Tyler Wilkerson, who has taken some of the load off the back of the reigning MVP.
Wilkerson drew most of the attention on Friday night when he erupted for 52 points highlighted by seven three-pointers in the Beermen’s 120-109 win over GlobalPort in the Commissioner’s Cup.
That allowed Fajardo, who’s still recovering from a left knee injury, to play just 28 minutes, although he still contribute significantly with 15 points, five boards, and two assists against five fouls and four turnovers.
“Magaling yung import namin,” Fajardo said. “Mapapagaan yung games ko at yung minutes ko. Medyo mababa na so ‘di ako masyadong napupwersa.”
“Sobrang sipag (ng import), nakaka-impress,” he added, saying Wilkerson’s presence makes San Miguel even tougher to beat.
“Mahirap na kami bantayan kasi marami kaming threat sa labas, yung import din may threat sa loob,” Fajardo said. “Ako, nasa loob. Mahihirapan din yung kalaban namin.”
As it is, Fajardo said he hardly feels pain on his knee anymore.
“Nagta-tight na lang, so kailangan i-stretch.”
