JUNE Mar Fajardo rued his poor shooting in San Miguel’s 94-92 loss to Bay Area on Wednesday that eliminated the Beermen from title contention in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The six-time MVP could only muster nine points after missing 11 of his 15 shots, although he did collect 16 rebounds, on top of two assists, and one block in almost 38 minutes as a starter in Game Four.
June Mar Fajardo on poor shooting in Game Four
“Pangit na ano ko, dami kong mintis na tira,” Fajardo said after being the last man to emerge from the SMB dugout.
“Nakakalungkot natalo kami. Wala naman magiging masaya na matalo, pero ganun talaga. May time talaga na off ka," he added.
None more crucial was his missed fallaway with two seconds left off an offensive rebound that would’ve given them a chance to send the game to overtime.
Fajado said there was nothing new to the Dragons’ defense on him as he took the blame for the uncharacteristic errant shooting.
“Same lang din ginawa nila. Nag-mintis lang talaga ako sa mga tira ko,” the 6-foot-10 center said.
Fajardo feels he needs to work on his perimeter shooting to give a Dragons side featuring 7-foot-5 center Liu Chuanxing a different look.
“Kailangan ko i-improve yung perimeter ko, kasi hindi mo naman pwede banggain lang lahat,” Fajardo said as he stuck to the positives in their matchup against the elite foreign team.
