AS expected, injured big man June Mar Fajardo was a no-show in Game One of the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel and Alaska Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Team manager Gee Abanilla said the 6-foot-10 star center has already left the St. Luke's hospital on Saturday and is now recuperating at home from the left knee injury he suffered during Game Six of the Beermen’s semifinals series against Rain or Shine.
“Pinag-pahinga na muna siya sa bahay, although subside na yung swelling,” said Abanilla minutes before the series opener.
Abanilla and the rest of the team though, are still hopeful Fajardo will be able to suit up for the remainder of the best-of-seven series as the Beermen try to retain their title.
However, SMB's team doctor was also quoted as saying that the Cebuano big man will need two to four weeks of complete rest before entertaining hope of a return to the court.
Back-up big man Yancy de Ocampo took the place of Fajardo in San Miguel's starting unit.
