JUNE Mar Fajardo insists that he holds no grudges against Columbian even after another high-scoring performance.

“Hindi ah,” he replied when asked if there’s something that triggers his 30-point explosions whenever San Miguel meets the Kia franchise. “Kailangan lang talaga naming manalo at makabalik sa standings.”

    But the numbers say otherwise.

Four of his seven career-highs in scoring were recorded against the Dyip, with him tallying his career third-best 41 points back in September 2017.

And on Wednesday, he had another one, going for 37 points, his career fourth-best, to go with 18 rebounds, two assists, and a block in 37 minutes of action in San Miguel’s 127-119 rout of Columbian in the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.

Fajardo was having such a good time that he did a pair of rare two-handed dunks in the fourth quarter, an out-of-the-box act from the usually low-key four-time PBA MVP.

“Nandoon na ako eh,” he explained with a sly smile. “Paminsan-minsan.”

Prodded if he’ll show more of those intense slams in the coming games, Fajardo just quipped: “More lay-ups.”

But as always, the Cebuano giant is the first to share the praise to his teammates.

“Buti nanalo kami ngayon. Swerte lang din na nakuha namin ang panalo kasi nung third quarter, ang dami naming turnovers na naging points nila, nakalamang pa sila. Buti nakabalik kami ng fourth quarter,” he said.

“Credit talaga sa mga teammates ko kasi lahat nag-step up. Ang ganda ng laro ni Alex (Cabagnot) kasi triple-double siya. Then yung import namin, as usual nandoon. Lahat talaga nag-contribute,” he added.

The victory allowed the Beermen to even their slate at 3-3, a huge turnaround after kicking off the conference on a 0-3 start.

And for Fajardo, it’s just a matter of translating what they’re working on in practice to the games as he remains unsatisfied with his side’s performance.

“Maganda lang na yung pina-practice namin, nako-convert namin yun sa games. Pero marami pa kaming kailangan i-improve, lalo na sa depensa kasi minsan nagre-relax kami,” he said. “Kapag naglaro kami as a team at shine-share namin ang bola, sobrang lakas namin at sobrang ganda ng kalalabasan.”
