Fajardo played only 16 out of the 21 games in the Commissioner’s Cup, more than the 70 percent of the total number of games that San Miguel played, which represents the cutoff in order to be eligible to win the individual award.
The seven-time PBA MVP was initially ineligible to win the Best Player of the Conference after missing six games in the elimination round due to a fractured left hand.
But Fajardo played in all 10 playoff games of the conference including the six finals matches to go over the cutoff.
Fajardo had averages of 16.2 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals, while tallying conference highs of 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks during the Commissioner’s Cup.
Top 10 in stats race
Arvin Tolentino of NorthPort is at fourth with an average SPs of 35.1 after averaging a conference-high 22.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks.
Calvin Oftana of TNT is ranked fifth with an average SPs of 34.1.
