JUNE Mar Fajardo now has a chance to fully recover from his left knee injury after San Miguel Beer’s historic title run in the PBA Philippine Cup.
While implying there’s still pain on his knee, the SMB superstar is relieved to have a break of at least two weeks before the Beermen open their campaign in the midseason tournament on February 20 against Mahindra.
“Hindi ko na inisip yun (sakit), pero pahinga ako after nito eh,” Fajardo said, adding he could rest for up to three weeks, meaning he could miss the team’s first few games.
“Magpahinga daw ako two to three weeks,” he said. “Nagpapasalamat kami sa management sa suporta at tiwalang binigay nila sa amin. Hindi sila nawalan ng pag-asa namin.”
Fajardo feels his absence early in the title series against Alaska was a blessing in disguise, prompting them to eventually cement their place in their history books.
“Maybe blessing in disguise yun na na-injure ako at na-down kami zero-three tapos nag-end up sa history,” the reigning MVP said. “May plano talaga si God sa amin.”
And Fajardo was glad he didn’t aggravate his injury or sustain a new one.
“Nagpapasalamat kami kay God na nag-champion kami at walang na-injury sa amin at sa Alaska,” the 26-year-old cager said.
