IT wasn’t long ago when he entered the PBA a wide-eyed big man and learned the ropes, before becoming the player that he is today.
So June Mar Fajardo knows Mo Tautuaa and Troy Rosario that their time will come as well.
On Saturday night, the San Miguel Beer superstar, the league’s best big man today, saw a glimpse of the potential of this year’s top two picks in the Beermen’s 97-84 victory over TNT in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup.
Rosario registered 17 points, nine boards, and one steal in 39 minutes, while Tautuaa added 14 points, two steals, and one measly rebound in 19 foul-plagued minutes.
“May potential sila,” Fajardo said. “Nandoon sila as future of Philippine basketball. Pareho silang maganda ang nilaro.”
The reigning league MVP admitted he can see himself in the Tropang Texters’ twin towers in the way they are adapting to the pro league’s brand of play.
After all, Fajardo also had to adjust during his freshman season where he wasn’t even named the Rookie of the Year, an award that went on to Alaska’s Calvin Abueva.
“Ganun talaga pag una, pero makukuha din nila (Rosario, Tautuaa) yun,” Fajardo said. “Makaka-adjust din sila.”
