JUNE Mar Fajardo's growing trophy collection just got bigger after he captured his third PBA Finals MVP on the strength of another stellar performance in Game Seven of the Philippine Cup Finals.
Fajardo was named Honda PBA finals MVP by the PBA Press Corps after he finished Game Seven with 17 points and a PBA-record 31 rebounds a gripping 72-71 victory over Magnolia that gave SMB a fifth straight all-Filipino title.
The gentle Cebuano giant broke the longest-standing PBA record on Wednesday when he surpassed the 29 rebounds set by Marcelo Simbulan of 7-Up in the league's inaugural season in 1975.
