JUAN Gomez de Liaño has filed his application for the PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft, he confirmed to SPIN.ph on Tuesday.
After stints in Japan, Lithuania, and Korea, Gomez de Liaño is setting his sights on the PBA by applying for the draft where he is expected to be a candidate to become the No. 1 pick overall in the September 7 proceedings.

He is also in line to join Javi in the PBA after his older brother’s signing rights was traded by Terrafirma to Magnolia in exchange for Jerrick Ahanmisi and a second-round draft pick a few days ago.
The former University of the Philippines standout spent the last two years in the Korean Basketball League playing for the Seoul SK Knights, the same team that picked up former NorthPort star Arvin Tolentino for this season.

The 25-year-old Gomez de Liaño also saw action for the Earthfriends Tokyo Z in the B2 League of Japan in 2021, and the BC Wolves in Lithuania from 2022 to 2023.
In between those stints, Gomez de Liaño played in the PBA D-League with Marinerong Pilipino in 2022 where he was named the MVP of the Aspirants Cup.
At UP, Gomez de Liaño was part of the Fighting Maroons team that began the rise from doormat to a championship contender for State U. He won a place in the Mythical Five in Season 81 (2018) when the Maroons reached the finals for the first time since 1986, losing to Ateneo in the championship.
The six-foot Gomez de Liaño is a UP product through and through, having also played for UPIS in his high school days alongside his brother Javi.
