AFTER the buyout of his KBL contract, Juan Gomez de Liaño’s next move is still up in the air – but the PBA remains a strong possibility.
Gomez de Liaño will have a few more days to make up his mind as the deadline for the upcoming PBA draft is set this Friday, August 29 – with the draft proper taking place a week after in September 7.

For the meantime, he’s deep into preparations and maintaining his body, with no official announcements just yet.
“Not sure yet, honestly, I’m still weighing my options,” he said. “Spending time with my family, staying in shape, that's it.”
“Entering the PBA is a possibility as well. I’ve been thinking about it, my family and I, whether that may be the best option for me,” he added.
Though nothing is certain for the former UP star, he insists that joining the PBA remains a ‘dream’ of his.
“Honestly, whenever I enter the draft, it's always been a dream of mine growing up here in the Philippines. I've been watching PBA since I was a kid,” he said.
GDL family reunion
Aside from the possible reunion with his former teammates in UP, there’s also the possibility of playing against —or as he much preferred, with— his older brother Javi, who recently got picked up by Magnolia.

“We could be teammates, you know. Javi, we grew up playing together. We've been teammates since middle school. We've never played together against each other in the PBA,” he explained.
"We know each others’ game, we’re familiar with each other. We know our strengths, our tendencies, so it’s fun to play with everyone.”
Still, even if Juan prefers playing with Javi instead of against him, he is still very much open to joining any squad.
“Honestly, you know, any team,” he clarified. “Whenever a team decides to call my name, I'm 100 percent going to give my everything, and do my best with my ability to represent the ballpark.“
