JUAN Gomez de Liano attributed the recent team meeting by Converge as one of the reasons for the FiberXers’ recent play where they won two straight games before the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup break.
The FiberXers got back on track following a four-game losing streak by winning back-to-back matches including a 112-110 victory over NLEX last Sunday to take the third spot in Group A with a 5-4 win-loss record before the respite.
Following the first win of Converge during the streak against Terrafirma, Converge coach Delta Pineda mentioned that the team held a candid meeting days prior to that game to reflect on what went wrong during the losing streak.

Gomez de Liano hopes that the result of that team meeting would carry on once the Governors’ Cup resumes in October.
“We had like a really deep team meeting, players, Gov. (Pineda), Gov. Archen (Cayabyab). I think that kinda helped us figure out what our identity is, and what our purpose is towards the team. And I think that was a big aspect for our chemistry,” Gomez de Liano said.
“We kinda just voiced out all our concerns, what’s lacking with the team, and what we could do to help the team in our own ways. So I think that meeting kinda helped us gain back our confidence, pretty much working together as one unit. So I said, hopefully, we can continue it,” he then added.
Gomez de Liano had 19 points, six rebounds, and eight assists in the FiberXers’ win over the Road Warriors. He is now averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists for the conference following across-the-board contributions all conference long.
Gomez de Liano is positive that their consistent play will be maintained when they come back to action in October.
“I think it was just a matter of time. We’re slowly getting a rhythm. We’re slowly playing a lot more together. And it all starts in our practices. We go hard. We show up every day and try to stay on the same page. Maganda ‘yung outcome in the past two games. And hopefully, we continue the winning tradition,” Gomez de Liano said.
