TERRAFIRMA has lost starting guard Juami Tiongson to a partial tear on his hamstring he suffered in the Dyip’s last game on Sunday in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Last year’s Second Mythical Team selection underwent an MRI test last Monday and got the result 24 hours later showing the extent of the injury.
As it is, Tiongson won’t be available when Terrafirma tackles TNT at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in the first game of the Thursday double header.
For how long, the 33-year-old guard couldn’t say.
“Walang definite. Depende kung gaano kabilis mag-heal and recover,” shared Tiongson to SPIN.ph
The playmaker out of Ateneo has been playing through injuries the past couple of games and he aggravated it in the Dyip’s 124-103 loss to the Magnolia Hotshots.
Tiongson only played in the first quarter before he was taken out for good after going down with the injury. He went scoreless in nine minutes of play and was 0-for-4 from the field.
He said he’s been playing hurt since Terrafirma’s game against Converge.
Hobbled Tiongson
“Sa calf area against Converge, tapos the day before the game against Magnolia,nag-spasm 'yung likod ko,” said Tiongson of his health situation.
“According to the PT, baka nag-compensate na sa hamstring kaya na strain.”
He averaged 9.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in four games this conference.
The loss of Tiongson couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Dyip, who are just one of two teams still winless this conference.
Terrafirma is at the bottom of Group A with a 0-4 mark.
