CEBU – It’s better late than never for JR Quiñahan as he is set to suit up for the Visayas team in the All-Star game against Gilas Pilipinas on Sunday night at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.
The veteran sltoman is having a career season for GlobalPort as the best player outside Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle, but was one of the standouts we felt were surprisingly left out.
But with Visayas All-Star Aldrech Ramos out with a broken nose, the league tapped Quiñahan to take his spot.
“Wala naman akong problema dun,” Quiñahan said in the morning of the All-Star game, referring to him being originally snubbe.d “At least, masaya pa rin na nakasama sa All-Star team.”
“Honor tsaka nakaka-proud lalo na home court dito sa Cebu, so mamaya, we’ll give our best para sa preparation for Gilas,” the Cebuano native added.
Quiñahan, who turns 33 on May 8, mingled with his fellow Cebuanos on Saturday when he spoke in front of the kids at Home Care Center in Lapu-Lapu.
Aside from Quiñahan, LA Tenorio and Rabeh Al-Hussaini are the new faces in the Visayas squad as they replaced Terrence Romeo and June Mar Fajardo, who are playing instead for Gilas.
