NLEX has agreed in principle to extend the contracts of JR Quiñahan, Raul Soyud, and Michael Miranda.
This was bared by NLEX coach Yeng Guiao during the latest edition of SPIN Sidelines aired Sunday afternoon.
Quiñahan, Soyud, and Miranda are three of 12 NLEX players whose contract expired at the end of the 2020 season.
“Ang kulang na lang ay pirmahan,” said Guiao. “We have agreed on the details. Hindi naman mahirap ang negosasyon. Simple lang at sandali lang.”

Quinahan was the third leading scorer of NLEX in the bubble conference after averaging 13.82 per contest. He also tallied 6.55 rebounds and 3.0 assists in the 2020 Philippine Cup.
Soyud, meanwhile, had a banner conference when he averaged 10 points and 6.82 rebounds for the Road Warriors.
Miranda contributed 6.73 and 4.36 rebounds for NLEX in a conference that saw the Road Warriors miss the playoffs even with a 5-6 win-loss record.

Guiao added that the team is in the process of speaking to the players who have expiring contracts. He didn’t elaborate on who the players are except that Asi Taulava and Cyrus Baguio are included in the list.
Guiao added that Kevin Alas, Kiefer Ravena, and Jericho Cruz are no longer part of the list since they have signed fresh deals prior to the season.
“We have 12 expiring players. Ibig sabihin ‘yan, more than half the team or almost three-fourths of the team are expiring. The good news is before the bubble, we were able to renew the contracts of Kevin (Alas) and Kiefer (Ravena). Even before that, we were able to renew the contract of Jericho Cruz.
“At this point, kinakausap na rin namin ‘yung mga expiring. Sa 12 na ‘yun, kasama si Asi at Cyrus and these two guys are contemplating retirement to be straight about it. Siguro we’ll have a talk with them and finalize plans.
Guiao also expects other NLEX players to sign with the ballclub.
“The rest of the 10 players, naumpisahan ko na ‘yung negotiation with four or five of them. ‘Yung tatlong ‘yun, within the week, we are going to finalize. Medyo in principle, okay na kami. I don’t think we will have problems with the rest of the guys that we will negotiate with. Masaya naman sila, masaya kami sa kanila,” said Guiao.
