DIMINUTIVE guards JP Calvo and CJ Isit seized the moment and shone the brightest in the 2018 PBA Gatorade Draft Combine, powered their crew to the championship, 76-64, in the mini-tournament on Thursday at Gatorade Hoops Center.
Calvo, the shifty playmaker from Letran, orchestrated the offense on his way to 23 points. His effort was enough for him to claim the MVP award in the Combine.
Isit, meanwhile, took full advantage of his touches as the former Mapua guard scored 22 points.
Isit joined Calvo in the Mythical Team, which also had Javee Mocon, Michael Calisaan and Robert Bolick.
Team A-2, which also had Matt Salem, JJ Manlangit, Paul Varilla, Gboy Babilonia and Kim Cinco, took home the P75,000 cash prize, but more importantly, boosted their stocks in front of PBA coaches and scouts in attendance.
Calisaan powered the runner-up crew with 15 points, as Tey Teodoro got 13 in the losing cause.
Meanwhile, Salem earlier proved himself to be the best marksman from the field, outgunning Dan Wong, 9-8, in the Three-Point Shootout Finals.
