Joshua Smith certain of playing for TNT in Game 4 despite torn ligaments on toes

    Jun 16, 2017

JOSHUA Smith suffered a ligament tear in his right foot but is certain of playing for TnT Katropa in Game Four of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Barangay Ginebra.

Smith suffered the injury in Thursday night’s Game Three, keeping him out of the floor for the rest of the second half of the match won by the Kings, 125-101.

The massive 6-foot-10 import went to the hospital while the game was still ongoing to have his MRI, where it was revealed he tore some ligaments on his toes.

But Smith shrugged off the injury and was back practicing with the Texters on Friday morning.

“He was already in practice. Hindi naman namamaga, although may kaunting pain, which is bearable naman,” said team manager Virgil Villavicencio.

“It’s a weird thing,” was how Smith described the injury, according to the TnT official.

The 25-year-old Smith finished with only four points and seven rebounds in a limited, nine-minute first half stint the last time.

Despite the 24-point blowout, the Texters still lead the best-of-five series, and could advance to the finals outright if they win Game 4 on Saturday at the Astrodome.
