JOSHUA Munzon is close to signing a new, long-term deal with Titan Ultra.
Highly-reliable sources bared the Fil-Am forward disclosed Munzon is certain to stay with the Giant Risers, who did some house cleaning prior to the long break of the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The old contract of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft was auto-extended for the remainder of Season 50, but his new deal will take effect once he officially signs his Uniform Players Contract or UPC.
OFF THE MARKET: Titan Ultra finalizing new deal to keep Munzon
"Almost a done deal," said one source privy to the negotiations.
Munzon’s new contract comes after talks on a possible trade involving the 31-year-old big man with a number of teams, most notably TNT, fell through.
It also meant Titan Ultra is dead serious in forming a team around him moving forward following a challenging first season in Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league.
The 6-foot-4 Munzon was the top overall pick by Terrafirma five years ago and played three years for the team before being shipped to Northport in exchange for Kevin Ferrer.
Munzon further blossomed with the Batang Pier, where he ended up being named as part of the All-Defensive team twice in a row (2024 and 2025) and once was named as the Most Improved Player (2025).
The Giant Risers recently began to make room in its salary cap space with the release of players Jerrick Balanza, Jeo Ambohot, and Damie Cuntapay.
Ambohot has since been signed by TNT Tropang 5G.
At the same time, Titan recently added veteran guard RR Garcia to its roster, at least for the remainder of the season.
