JONNEL Policarpio took the limelight in his two games during Day One of the PBA Draft Combine on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Policarpio scored 24 points in NorthPort/Phoenix’s 68-64 loss to Terrafirma/TNT, with the 23-year-old even outpointing consensus No. 1 draftee and fellow Kapampangan Justine Baltazar, who had 16 points in that contest.
The Arayat, Pampanga native also scored 16 points in his first game during the combine with NorthPort/Phoenix routing Rain or Shine/San Miguel, 82-68, in match contest that also saw CJ Catapusan making 17 points and Kurt Reyson contributing 16 points.
La Salle champions hit the mark
Mark Nonoy also excelled in the Draft Combine games after topping the sprint and running vertical jump tests after he had 19 points in Converge/Magnolia’s 72-60 loss to Ginebra/Blackwater.
Meanwhile, National U's Michael Malonzo made 17 points in the Rain or Shine/San Miguel match over NorthPort/Phoenix.
Abdul Sawat of UE then had 17 points in Meralco/NLEX’s 60-51 win over Ginebra/Blackwater.
The elimination round games resume on Thursday with the semifinals and finals also to be played.
