JONATHAN Grey will continue to be part of NorthPort’s immediate future.
The 26-year-old guard was signed by the Batang Pier to a two-year contract on Tuesday after earning a major spot in coach Pido Jarencio’s rotation during the PBA’s 43rd season.
Grey was joined during the contract signing by team manager Bonnie Tan, his representative Edgar Mangahas, assistant team manager Waiyip Chong, and administration assistant Ron Villaga.
The former St. Benilde stalwart is the latest among the team’s expiring players to be re-signed to a new contract by the team.
Big man Mo Tautuaa had also been given a new two-year deal, ditto with guards Nico Elorde and Paolo Taha.
Grey was acquired by North Port from Meralco in a complex five-player, three-team trade consummated last year.
He scored a career-high 24 points in a 107-88 win over Meralco during the Philippine Cup and then hit the game-winner in a 114-113 triumph over top seed Rain or Shine that forced a sudden-death game for a semifinals berth during the Commissioner’s Cup.
