NORTHPORT added height to its roster a week before the opening of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup as it picked up Jom Sollano from the free agent pool.

Batang Pier team manager Bonnie Tan confirmed the signing as the 6-foot-6 forward made the cut for the team's opening day roster.

Rain or Shine picked Sollano in the second round, 19th overall, in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, but was left unsigned.

The former Letran slotman averaged 6.75 points, 6.94 rebounds, 1.63 assists and 1.25 blocks for Imus Bandera in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League 2019 Anta Datu Cup.

Sollano will join a young NorthPort frontline which heavily relied on guys like Sean Anthony, Mo Tautuaa and Bradwyn Guinto, together with incoming sophomores Joseph Gabayni and Lervin Flores, while also reuniting him with Jeff Napa, his former coach with the Knights.

The Cebuano made his mark in the NCAA in the Season 91 championship, hiting the baseline jumper that sealed the deal for Letran in overtime.

Meanwhile, Tan divulged that NorthPort's 13th roster spot remains open, with comebacking AJ Mandani and rookie Jeremiah Taladua in the running.

Mandani, 31, had played for GlobalPort after being taken in the second round of the 2012 PBA Draft. He also had stops in Meralco and Mahindra (now Columbian), where he last suited up in 2016.

On the other hand, the 24-year-old Taladua was plucked by NorthPort in the fourth round, 35th overall, in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.
