JOE Devance of Barangay Ginebra is skipping this year’s PBA All-Star game due to a knee injury.
Devance announced he will be missing the All-Star game particularly the Visayas leg where he was voted by fans to play in Iloilo this weekend.
“I want to apologize for me not being able to make this year’s Visayas All-Star event in Iloilo,” wrote Devance. “I’m saddened that I won’t be able to attend due to my injury to my knee.”
On Wednesday, Devance attended Ginebra practice but didn’t participate in intensive training, instead working on his shooting.
The absence of Devance, however, meant he will be missing the pre-All-Star festivities including the dance-off. The veteran forward has been the regular choreographer in the dance-off.
“Damn Kuya Joe. We need you on the dance floor. Sayang naman,” wrote TNT cager Jericho Cruz.
Devance replied: “Hahaha my bad brotha.”
Devance, an All-Star six times including a string of four straight seasons from 2014 to 2017, is honored to have taken part in the event for so long.
“These events are never promised and I’m honored I was part of them throughout my 11-year PBA career. The PBA and you guys have always showed me so much. I love you guys and I’ll try my best to make it up to you guys somehow,” Devance said.
