ANTIPOLO CITY - Joe Devance failed to finish Barangay Ginebra's PBA Philipine Cup quarterfinal game against Alaska after hurting his leg in the third quarter of the match at the Ynares Sports Center here.
Devance was writhing in pain after apparently hurting his heel at the height of the Kings' huge second half rally which they managed to complete for an 85-81 win.
The veteran Fil-Am left the game at the 7:31 mark and the Kings trailing,51-37.
He was immediately brought to the hospital while the game was still ongoing.
Devance finished with 10 points on 5 of 10 shooting and had three rebounds in 24 minutes of play.
Tim Cone later disclosed it could have something to do with the nagging bone spurs that has been bothering Devance for a long time now, adding Devance even had to be injected with pain reliever prior to the match.
"He’s been battling bone spurs in his ankle and he had an injectuion before the game just to be ready," said Cone during the post-game interview.
"I have a feeling it has something to do with the bone spurs."
While he's not yet formally briefed about the real condition of Devance, Cone is ready for the worst
"I don't know what has happened. I hope it's nothing serious."
