JUNE Mar Fajardo had a huge 20-20 outing on Sunday, but unfortunately for San Miguel, it didn’t result into a victory.
Fajardo’s 27-point, 23-rebound effort went for naught as the Beermen bowed in Game 1 to Barangay Ginebra, 99-90, on Sunday in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series.
“Wala pa rin ‘yun, talo kami,” said the nine-time PBA MVP about his numbers in the semifinal opener.

Fajardo’s numbers would have actually been a lot better if he made most of his free throws. A 63 percent free throw shooter during the elimination round, Fajardo was only at 42 percent after making just five of his 12 attempts.
Fajardo isn’t the only one that fired blanks at the foul line as the team combined for 15-of-31 in Game 1.
Still too early in the series, Fajardo isn’t too worried with the Game 1 defeat.
“Long series ito. Best-of-seven,” said Fajardo. “Kailangang gawin namin ‘yung dapat namin gawin… mostly sa depensa. Dami ko rin mintis na free throws.”
“Lahat naman kami nag-miss sa free throws. Kailangan naming i-workout ‘yun."

The loss ended San Miguel’s string of 10 straight victories dating back to their third game of the conference where they came into that game with an 0-2 win-loss record.
“Bounce back. Kailangan naming mag-regroup. Long series. Hindi naman matatapos agad ito. Bounce back na lang kami,” said Fajardo.
