SAN Miguel may be backed against the wall, but count on June Mar Fajardo to make light of the situation.
"Our backs are against the wall, pero buti nga meron pa kaming masasandalan," he said with a smile after the Beermen snapped a two-game losing skid with a 93-79 victory over Blackwater on Wednesday.
Fajardo led the mauling with his impressive statline of 20 points, 21 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks to pull his side back to .500 at 3-3 in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
As happy as the Cebuano giant was with the win, the five-time PBA MVP wouldn't deny that the pair of losses to TNT and Rain or Shine served as eye-openers for San Miguel to get its act together if it wants to affirm its stature as all-Filipino blue bloods.
"After nung last game, sinabihan kami nila coach and lahat ng mga coaching staff na nakaka-frustrate kasi sayang ang ensayo namin kasi talo pa rin," he said.
"Yung dalawang sunod na talo, mahirap yun para sa amin. Nire-remind kami nila coach na kailangan naming manalo kasi sobrang hirap na kung maging 2-4 kami."
With the Beermen back on track, the 6-10 center hopes they've already rectified their miscues heading into their final five games in the eliminations, starting against Magnolia on Sunday in a rematch of last season's finals.
"Kailangan lang talaga namin maglaro nang maayos at dapat may sense of urgency na kasi nga our backs are against the wall," he said.
