JINKEE Pacquiao said she’s going to support her husband as he enters a whole new world in her sports career.
Jinkee was at the sidelines earlier this week as eight-time world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao conducted tryouts as he begins his new role as player coach of PBA expansion franchise Kia Motors.
Jinkee said she’s aware that other than boxing, Pacquiao loves the sport of basketball - the reason she has been fully supportive of the latest career move of the boxer, TV host, actor, and politician.
“Dito siya masaya eh, kaya support all the way,” Jinkee told Spin.ph.
Dressed in a simple white dress with her hair neatly tied behind her head, the vice governor of Saranggani province sat quietly in the stands of the Sta. Lucia Mall gym in the company of sons Michael and Emmanuel Jr.
Despite the oven-hot conditions inside the gym, Mrs. Pacquiao patiently waited for the eight-time world champion to wrap up practice, attracting no attention to herself.
Jinkee said she doesn’t mind if her two sons follow in the footsteps of her husband – not as a boxer but as a basketball player.
Mrs. Pacquiao said having one boxer in the family is enough.
“Pwede basketball, huwag lang boxing,” she said. "Ay, kasi mahirap sa boxing. Okay lang 'yung siya (Manny) lang, pero sa mga bata hindi.”
“Basta mahilig lang sila (mga bata) ng ibang sport, wag lang boxing,” she added.
